![]() ![]() I can imagine I'll have fun getting that rail and windshield off, and splitting the hull. The work will be stripping hardware and flipping since it is in good condition otherwise plus the transom, floor, and the one stringer. 80 grit takes out everything short of damage, and it looks great. On the transom I did, you just DA it with 80 grit and spray it. I figure the hull would be easy except mine has some surface cracking by the waterline. I paid 900 for mine but the inlines don't seem to be worth as much here, if I ever sell it, and my transom is bad. So the boat only was $400 and I kept the brand new mercruiser trim pump from the inline 6 140. Got the boat with an inline 6 for $2000 and sold the inline 6 for $1,600. Interior sucks, and so does the top, as they painted it, and it is faded and scratched up. Floor now is back to solid, after some wood replacement. Transom rock solid with 6" of setback holding up a V6. Structurally the boat is in excellent condition. And if I got gonzo then it would be alot more than a month. But like you said, there is alot of prepping to do that, so I would not want to do it any other time but in the fall anyway. He will do the spraying and I can do the sanding. But yes the sanding and buffing is where I have to come in with my buddies to help out, or do most of the sanding. Either painting it or re gel coating the boat. He told me that if he had time this fall, he could help me do some body or hull work on it. Sure you need more for a whole hull, but a few hundred should do it plus sand paper/thinner/etc., oh and plus any repairs. I mean, I sprayed my bayliner transom/well/rear pad for $38 worth of VC epoxy bottom coat with teflon.looks just like white gel. If you could get it sprayed/buffed reasonable you could do that much cheaper too, after you tear it all down. The gelcoat is not that expensive, the labor is. You can also call dealers around there and sometimes they know who does it, or insurance offices too. I made new bucks for the bayliner and it was real easy.easy to fit them.I would try to do a seat but I don't think the standard sewing machine I have here would sew it. I might still go this way but I rather get new. I think mine is different, I have the front bow seat and rear bench I could rebuild with new bucks, the front buckets are all glass and good, though the cover is molded around it and I don't know how hard to make. You need to find someone like that there, and take the seats to them, should be a good deal and less than that. She satisfies technical requirements for her category of navigation and has cruised extensively in Antarctica since her re-launch.I know of a guy here that did a whole pontoon for 850 at his house. ![]() It’s also important to note that Legend complies with the IMO Polar Code that came into effect on Januand covers safety measures and environmental protections for yachts venturing into defined polar waters. Now, with the refurbished stabilisers and new software, it has become a really easy ride.” That was in January and Biscay was wild, but the ship handled well then. “I brought Legend from Italy in 2014 without stabilisers. A following sea is sometimes more annoying as we have built new nice social spaces very close to the sea aft, so that is taken into account when planning a day’s navigation. “Her draught and inertia make for a very easy rolling that the stabilisers compensate for adequately. “ Legend handles nice and easy in any sea state,” says Captain Vivegnis. They certainly seem to work well in concert with the capable hull. Legend was originally used as a Soviet icebreaker. ![]() The captain’s cabin and the ice pilot’s, meanwhile, are up behind the revamped wheelhouse. Their accommodation is forward on the lower, main and boat decks - giving easy access to every level of guest accommodation. Legend packs in every superyacht water toy a guest could hope for as well as the necessary extra staff - she can take an expedition crew of 10 (helicopter pilot, doctor, expedition leaders, naturalists and so on) on top of the 28 regular crew. Rotor blades will be stored neatly in new foredeck lockers and both helicopters vacuum-wrapped to keep them pristine on crossings. There will also be a smaller chopper, for emergencies, to be craned from the helideck to sit on the extended forecastle deck. Legend's interiors got a complete revamp as part of her 2016 refitĪlso added to Legend’s adventurous kit was a commercial-standard superyacht helideck on the owner’s deck aft, suitable for a six-person Eurocopter EC135, along with its state-of-the-art fire extinguishing systems, an eight tonne helifuel storage tank and bunker systems. ![]()
